Sophia Loren once said, “Nothing makes a woman more beautiful than the belief that she is beautiful.“ It is a philosophy Georgio Fernandez embraces and lives by every day. His passion for bringing out the beauty in others has parlayed into a cult-like following and his client list reads like the social registry of who’s who around the world. From foreign royalty to Hollywood’s hottest, high profile socialites to the girls next door, Georgio is the makeup maverick challenging the standards and changing the face of beauty.
Born in New York, raised in Florida, and descended from Cuban ancestry, Georgio spent several years in the entertainment industry with a successful acting and modeling career and was once named one of ABC Daytime’s Sexiest Men in America. He set those achievements aside after a chance encounter with destiny led him to find his true love on the other side of the camera. After once commenting to his wife, Mikaela, that her makeup did not do her justice, she issued a challenge for him to do it better. With no formal training in cosmetics, Georgio took up the challenge and never looked back.
His natural talent and unwavering passion has landed him positions with beauty industry giants such as MAC, Bobbi Brown, Shu Uemera and Laura Mercier. He has developed and fostered cosmetic programs for some of the most prestigious salons and spas in the country and his work has been featured by numerous media outlets including Life & Style Magazine and NBC. His brilliance with brow design creates an unparalleled transformation and has earned him the title of Brow Master by those entranced with his skills.
As a straight man, many feel Georgio’s outlook on makeup is unique in a profession where he is perceived as a rarity. Georgio, who now makes his home in Delray Beach, Florida with Mikaela and their two daughters, writes a monthly beauty column for Atlantic Avenue Magazine, one of Florida’s premier publications. He has also been approached to author a book, Makeup From A Straight Man’s Perspective, which is expected to be released in late 2009 and is frequently approached to be a Spokesperson and on-air talent for a number of top cosmetic lines.
At the heart of his many successes, lies one single and unshakeable truth - Georgio has an absolute love, and some say obsession, for what he does and those whose lives he touches. When he’s not traveling to be on location, he’s spending countless hours at LadyLash Studios, which he owns with his wife, Mikaela, who happens to be one of the top Lash Stylists in the country, painting the faces of his legions of fans. If it is true that “Love of beauty is Taste but the creation of beauty is Art,” as Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, Georgio Fernandez is the Artist and the whole world, his canvas.
